Do you worry about the future??

Three days ago I watched a programme in Disney Plus entitled Arctic Ascent which is based on the adventures of this American rock climber, Alex Honnold. I have been following his climbing adventures through his documentaries on National Geographic and he is really quite inspirational. He did a solo climb without harness, ropes or safety equipments at El Capitan in 2017 and that was really a great feat!

So, this new docuseries was about Alex who decided to go to Greenland with a group of explorers (Alex-climber, Hazel-climber, Mikey-climber, Aldo-in charge of safety and logistics not to mention he was previously a former Royal Commando, Heidi- a Glaciologist, Adam-Greenlandic adventurer and guide). I was very interested in this as I am excited to see what Alex is up to this time. Interestingly, he was planning to scale Mount Ingmikortilaq in one of the most remote and harshest place on earth and it is in Greenland. At the same time, he is also leading a team to study the effects of global warming on the glaciers and how it can cause water level to rise across the world.

I was totally glued to this 3 part series. It was exciting, scary and also after watching this made me wonder what the world would be like if we continue without thinking of the consequences of global warming. Climate change is inevitable and happening now but we can try to do something to hopefully slow it down and maybe one day find a way reverse it. The future generations are the ones who will be facing the consequences and it might one of those things like "end of the world" kind of thing that we watch on TV.

In one of the episodes, Heidi was studying the glacial behavior of Daugaard-Jensen Glacier and by studying the movement or how the glaciers move, they may predict how fast the ice is melting and how fast water is rising.

I hope most of us take the time to watch this docuseries so that we can be aware of what can happen if we don't do anything to help with climate change. This is a problem that everyone and every country should be involved in. It is for our children and their children if we still want Earth to be a habitable place.

Probably the first step in helping is to start at home. Find ways to reduce our carbon emission. Examples include: recycle more, use less electricity, avoid plastic packaging if possible, reduce plastic bag usage, drive less and the list goes on and on. Its up to us to save our planet so we can save the future too.
